The Briefcase "Briefs" Job Search Newsletter - Issue #11

In this issue: An exciting update, slash careers, breaking through barriers, how to get a job at Facebook, Google and Amazon, language matters in inclusion... and more!

Dear readers,

I have some "fun" (relative word...right?) news to share. LinkedIn approached me about six months ago to film a LinkedIn Learning course on the hidden job market--a topic I am very passionate about and have seen first hand many job seekers (including myself) have great success with the techniques. I spent a lot of time working with my amazing producer Chris on a script with plans to fly to L.A. for filming. Unfortunately, Covid hit and the trip was cancelled.

The Learning team reached back out in March to see if I'd be interested in filming the course from home (Jimmy Fallon-style). Transparently, was a bit hesitant as I was concerned about presenting a course without a TelePrompTer and not appearing as polished. However, after some reflection, I realized that the course is really important--especially now. I am honored and humbled that I have been given a platform to share my knowledge and am optimistic that this message will impact job seekers (like you!).

My course, "Find a Job in the Hidden Job Market” JUST released. You are the first to know. LinkedIn graciously gave me a code to give all of you free access to the course for 24 hours. Check out the link here.

Feel free to share the link with your job seeking friends in the trenches. I want to help as many people as I can.

Reach out and say hello this week. Tell me how you are dealing with these new changes. I’d love to hear from you.

As always, I’m rooting for you,

Sarah
